Occupational accidents and diseases

Occupational accidents can be prevented by identifying and eliminating hazards altogether or, if that is not possible, by minimising them. When identifying hazards, any special circumstances at the workplace, such as abnormal conditions, must also be taken into account.

Physical factors

Identifying, mapping and controlling physical factors, such as heat, noise and vibration, and chemical and biological risk factors at the workplace is called occupational hygiene.
